Coeur des Alpes (1997)

    Coeur des Alpes

As with most projects created by Heinz Julen, the Cœur des Alpes Hotel invites you to feel at ease and relax.  For this project Heinz Julen provided the design of the hotel and  the furniture. The construction and management was commisioned elsewere.

After passing though a tunnel hollowed out of the rock, you enter a lift made completely out of glass which takes you up to the second level containing the reception desk as well as the bar and lounge.

In this area, much loved by the artist, you will find an outwardly open glass facade, Heinz Julen chandeliers and fireplace, as well as furniture made of metal, wood and leather

Heinz Julen devided the space to generate new perspectives. Therefore, the floor of the central area is made of glass. The pool is located directly under the central area of the reception in the lower level. The fireplace in the lounge and the chandelier above the pool are in perfect symmetry, whereby a clear continuity of space has been created.

In the bedrooms there is also the principle of harmonious spaceflow. Nothing interrupts your view. There are endless views and the suites are designed  in the style of a  “Loft”.

The Cœur des Alpes consists of 14 original rooms, a jacuzzi swimming-pool, Turkish bath, sauna, fitness area, solarium; the entire building is designed with a meticulous eye for comfort and harmony between fire and ice, interior and exterior, at the foot of the Matterhorn.

The Hotel won over 3 years the “Bilanz Contest” (1st, 2nd, 1st place). In 2003 it was the Swiss Hotel with the best rate of occupation (96%) and the best profitability. It is selected by the famous website www.tripadvisor.com, in which of it comes in first place of the best hotels in Europe.
