  • Plankton Manifesto
Swiss-born multi-media artist Katja Loher presents her works as organic sculptural forms, or Videosculptures. Loher’s nearly seamless fusion of the technological with the organic reflects the digital world of magic she creates. Each piece addresses ecological urgencies, such as the plight of pollinators, abuses of technology, and the future of humanity, while simultaneously drawing attention to the intrinsic beauty of the life sustaining processes that support our planet.  Her pieces are the product of a collaborative effort between creative talents. Ballerinas take on the form of small creatures in a multicolored game of perspective and scale that ennobles the existence of tiny beings. Performers intertwine to form letters, words and questions, while costumed dancers dressed as animals mimic the somatic or sonar communication inherent to different species.

Loher’s work is featured in notable public and private collections and has been exhibited on all continents in venues such as Gitex Global, Dubai, UAE; Core Club, New York, USA; Swiss Embassy in New Delhi, India;Figge Art Museum, Davenport, IA, USA; Kunsthaus Uri, Altdorf, CH; MAXXI Museum, Rome, Italy; United Nations Pavilion at the World Expo Shanghai, China; Venice Architecture Biennale, Venice, Italy; Siggraph Asia, Yokohama, Japan, State Hermitage Museum, St. Peterburg, Russia.

Plankton capture more Co2 from the atmosphere than all of the world’s forests combined.

PLANKTON MANIFESTO is a collaborative and future-oriented movement based on art, awareness and empathy. Local and international creators are manifesting their dreams through their knowledge, expertise and experience sharing the vision and mission to preserve underwater life.

PLANKTON MANIFESTO draws attention to the invisible, threatened underwater world. This movement fulfills an important task of the 17 UN Sustainability Goals, specifically in the context of Goal #14 called “Life Below Water”.

Plankton sustain ocean ecosystems, serving as the basis of the marine food chain and produce a similar amount of oxygen as all of the world’s forests combined. The crucial role of phytoplankton as the gatekeepers of energy provision to all life in the oceans, may likely be altered by climate change.
